August 3, 1944 – March 1, 2004
James R. Hunter, 59, of Baldwinsville passed away Monday, March 1, 2004. He grew up in Baldwinsville and lived many years in Cicero before returning to Baldwinsville. Jim spent the last months with Sally in Liverpool. For 21 years he was an active member of the Cicero Volunteer Fire Dept. When he became ill, they made him an honorary member. He was a friend of Bill W. for 24+ years. He was an avid outdoors man and was active with the Boy Scouts of America and a volunteer trail guide at Beaver Lake Nature Center. He was a retired employee of Crucible Steel after approximately 32 years of service. He served in the U.S. AirForce. He was predeceased by a grandaughter, Ashley Swimm.
Survivors: two sons, Christopher P. of Ovid and Shawn E. of Cicero; a daughter, Sgt. Tracy A. Swimm and her husband Christopher with the US Army, currently in Stuttgart, Germany; three sisters, Kathleen (Dennis) Sayers of Severn, MD, Martha Quinn and Mary (James) Delpha both of Baldwinsville; two granddaughters, Melissa and Amanda Swimm; his former wife, Sally Hunter (Benham); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services: 8:00pm Monday, March 8, 2004 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Baldwinsville. Private burial, St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-8pm Monday, March 8, 2004 at the funeral home, 93 Downer St.
