James F. "Jimbo" Bollaert, 73, a retired FDNY firefighter and former resident of Staten Island, N.Y. passed away peacefully at his home in Baldwinsville, N.Y. on Dec. 12, 2016.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 42 years, Ellen (nee Carey), who passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary, siblings, Phyllis, Bernard and Mary, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Bollaert. He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Martin (Joseph), Patricia Monaco (John), Ellyn DePasquale (Christopher) and son, James. He was the loving grandpa and poppy to Alexandra, Catherine, Laurel and Luke.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Myer in Arlington, VA. He then worked at the New York City Department of Sanitation for two years before joining the FDNY. He worked at Engine 246/Ladder 169 in Brooklyn, NY for almost 30 years before retiring in 1996. He always said being a firefighter was the greatest job in the world. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who loved his family.
His daughters would especially like to thank their brother for the amazing love and care he provided to their father in the final years of his life.
The family is planning a private memorial and celebration of life in early 2017.
