Geraldine Martini (née Quiery) passed away Thursday, peacefully at home following a valiant fight against dementia, leaving behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories.
Born on February 24, 1951, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Robert J. Quiery and Helen Alice Holodnak. In 1971, she married Ed Martini of Solvay, with whom she shared many wonderful years and raised two sons, Brian Edward and Scott Charles. Ed preceded her in death in 2007.
Geraldine had a passionate appreciation for the beauty in life's simple pleasures. She loved antiquing, discovering unique treasures, taking long rides through the countryside, and filling her home with music. Above all, she had a tender heart for animals and deeply loved the many cats and dogs she cared for and called family throughout her lifetime.
She is survived by her longtime loving partner, Terry Castleman; her two sons, Brian (Charna) Martini of Powell, Ohio, and Scott Martini of Syracuse, New York; her three cherished grandchildren; her sister, Diane Audet of Wallingford, Connecticut; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Ed, she was predeceased by her loving parents, Robert and Helen.
Geraldine's courage, kindness, love for her family, and gentle spirit will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
