George A. Pogact, 87, of Baldwinsville, passed away Wednesday. Born in Manhattan, he was raised in northern NJ and moved to Baldwinsville area in 1965. George retired after more than 30 years with Verizon, formerly Bell Telephone and AT&T.

After retirement he became an avid car enthusiast and attended hot rod car shows. George was a former member of the Baldwinsville Fire Dept. He loved the NY Yankees and enjoyed some traveling, and spending time with his family and friends especially around the BBQ.

George was predeceased by his wife, Bonnie in 1996; and parents, Irene and George Pogact.

Surviving are his children, Tracy (Tom Johnson) Pogact of Bernhards Bay and Mark (Tomi) Pogact of Williston, VT; long-time friend and companion, Sue Tessoni of Penfield; sister, Priscilla Pogact of Hawthorne, NJ; brother, Steve Pogact of Toluca Lake, CA; and two grandchildren, Grayson and Cooper Pogact.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, June 8 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.

A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
