Gary Jon Pinto of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away surrounded by family on January 1, 2026.

Born on February 9, 1948, in Utica, NY to John and Josephine Pinto, he was the beloved husband for 56 years to Lyn (Baron) and a devoted father to his daughter Allison Volinsky and husband Joshua, his son Gary D. Pinto and wife Cathy (Hughes), his sister Debra (Pinto) Calabrese and husband Joseph, along with many cherished nephews & nieces.

Gary was an extremely proud grandfather to the "Amazing 4"; Anthony J. Pinto, Zachary J. Volinsky, Matthew K. Volinsky, & Hayleigh J. Pinto.

Gary's professional journey took him down many different fields culminating with a career at Liberty Resources serving as an Adult Rehabilitation Counselor dedicating his passion & love of life to helping others. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran having served as a Drill Instructor achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class before his honorable discharge in 1977.

His commitment to service continued throughout his life as he actively participated in the world's largest Catholic fraternal service organization Knights of Columbus, ultimately achieving the distinguished & highest rank of Sir Knight. Along with his wife Lyn, Gary was a devout parishioner at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, lending his unmistakable voice each week as a Lector to lift the hearts of his spiritual family.
Beyond his professional & civic endeavors, Gary was a passionate artist & an imaginative cook. He enjoyed watercolor painting & delighted in preparing chef-quality meals for his family & friends. Additionally, he was a self-taught guitarist, often sharing his love of music with those around him. His leadership skills were evident in his role as a leader for Boy Scout Troop 80 in Baldwinsville, NY, where he instilled values of courage, responsibility, & community service in young scouts.

Family and friends will be received at Falardeau Funeral Home on January 6, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, January 7 at St. Augustine's Church, O'Brien Road, Baldwinsville.
