Francis C. Testa, age 99, of Baldwinsville and Camillus passed away on Oct. 18,2023. He was born on July 18,1924, the son of John D. Testa and Mary Rose LaNasa Testa. He graduated from North H.S, Syracuse in 1942, served 3 years in WWII as an MP, and attended Syracuse University.
Frank and his brother, Joe, owned and operated John Testa & Sons Dept. Store on Butternut St. Frank also worked as an assistant manager for Witherall's Dept Store and retired from the US Postal Service in 1990.
Frank enjoyed reading, golfing, gardening, fishing, dancing, traveling, participating in the Silver Sneakers exercise program and playing cards at the Canton Woods Senior Center and Brookdale Assisted Living. Francis was a life time member of Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. Previously, he was a driver for Baldwinsville Express.
He is predeceased by his first wife and mother of their nine children, Carmella Bonn, his second wife Jennie Shuba Biss, his only sibling, Joseph and his wife Josie, his daughters Marcia Crowley and Joann Testa, son-in law Gary Rawlins, step-son Lynn Biss, grand-daughter Anne White, and Christine Meredith.
Surviving are his children John (Donna) of Westbrook, Me., Francis of Liverpool, Gerald (Carol) of N. Syracuse, Angela Rawlins (Bill Martin) of Baldwinsville, Mary Montgomery (Mark) of Edenton, N.C, Laurie Azzoto (Rick)of Liverpool, Bonnie Pirro(Jim) of Camillus and son-in-law John Crowley of E. Syracuse. Also surviving are his second wife's children Dr. Roger Biss and wife Cathy of Queensbury, NY, Christine Biss O'Connell of Burnt Hills, NY, Eric and Kathy Biss of Baldwinsville and Kathy Biss of Durham, NC, 18 grand-children, 17 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Dr. Noonan's office, Brookdale, and Elderwood for their excellent care.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 11/3Friday from 4 to 7pm at Falardeau Funeral home in Baldwinsville. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Fairmont on Saturday at 9 am. Internment is at St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made in Francis' name to the American Cancer Society.
