Evelyn J. Coates Aherin 90, of Syracuse died Friday, May 23, 2003 at Loretto in Syracuse. She was born in Cincinnati, OH, raised in Baldwinsville and lived in Eastwood since 1943. She was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church since 1939. Mrs. Aherin was a seamstress, a quilter and an avid duplicate bridge player. Mrs. Aherin researched and wrote the Coates family geneaology, which was published in 1970 and updated in 1993. She was pre-deceased by her husband Francis W. in 1984.

Survivors: One Daughter, Martha Aherin Horn of Hull, Mass, one son, William D. and wife Mary Aherin of Southampton, Mass. two brothers, Robert G. Coates and John R. Coates both of Baldwinsville; two grandchildren, Samantha Horn Olsen of Bowdoinham, ME and John Tyler Horn of Strafford, VT and one great-grandchild, Konrad Tyler Olsen of Bowdoinham, ME.

Services: 1:00pm Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at Falardeau Funeral Home, Inc. Baldwinsville. Burial, Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours are 4-7pm Monday, May 26, 2003 at the funeral home, 93 Downer Street.
