Eugene "Gene" Banky, 83, of Baldwinsville, passed away Thursday, at home surrounded by his family. Born in Syracuse, he spent many years working as a frameman in the telephone industry at New York Telephone in Newark, NY, retiring after 36 years. He then resided in Tuscon, AZ, for 10 years, before moving to Baldwinsville in 2014.

Gene was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and watching the NY Yankees and SU basketball and football.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Heather; daughters, Kimberly (Vern Klein) Luebbert and Tiffany (Michael) O'Grady; two grandchildren, Kellie Rae and Nathan (Emma); great-granddaughter, Leah; brother, Gerry Banky; and sister, Judith Banky.

There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
