Esther L. (Ruger) Briggs, 74, of Hastings formerly of Warners went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Esther was born in Potsdam to the late Julian and Fannie Ruger of Norwood. She graduated from Norwood-Norfolk High School and later married Robert J. Briggs, Sr. on July 4, 1957.

Esther was a devoted wife and wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved spending time at their camp, boat rides and just getting together with the entire family. Esther will be remembered by all who knew her, for her strength, courage, faith, and encouraging words.

She retired from Patricks Dry Cleaners in 2009. Esther was a member of the Word of Life Assembly of God in Baldwinsville.

Esther was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Briggs, Sr. in 2009; her daughter, Sherry Briggs in 2002 and her grandson John "J" Briggs, Jr. in 2001.

Survivors: Esther is survived by her children; Robert J. (Terry) Briggs, Jr. of Elbridge, Timothy (Renee) Briggs of Preble, Cynthia Briggs Heath of South Carolina, John (Laurie) Briggs of Camillus, Rebecca (Martin) Hudon of Tully and Dale (Mary) Briggs of Hastings; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; brothers; Richard Ruger of Chittenango, Rodney (Marilyn) Ruger of Oregon; sisters, Mary Jane (Bob) MacDonald of Norwood and Evelyn Knowlton of Waddington.

Calling hours are 4-7pm Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville with a service to follow at 7:00pm.
