November 18, 1929 – March 24, 2025
Estelle Checrallah, 95, of Baldwinsville, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 24, 2025. Born and raised in New York City, she was thankful for the excellent education she received there including attending Fordham School of Nursing to become an RN. She went on to work in Lenox Hill Hospital and marry her husband, Mitchell Checrallah. While raising her 4 children, Estelle earned her Bachelors and Master's degrees from Hunter College.
After teaching for a few years, she returned to nursing as the Director of Patient Services for the Brooklyn division of the American Cancer Society. She served there for many years and finished her nursing career as head nurse in the Oncology department of an HMO in Manhattan.
A life-long learner, Estelle was an avid reader especially enjoying fiction, history, medical journals, and health information. Playing games, most notably Bridge with her friends and Rummikub and Dominoes with her children and grandchildren, was also great entertainment. Estelle delighted in her family who continually brought her great joy.
She is predeceased by her husband, Mitchell, of 57 years, and her son, Mitchell. Surviving are her 3 daughters Carol (Robert) Vrabel, Jane Stam, and Karen (Munir) Khamis, as well as 10 grandchildren: Michael, Bobby, Nicole, Christine, Tom, Peter, Daniel, John, Stephen, David, and 10 great- grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 11, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville.
