Ernest R. "Ernie" Cayea, 82, of Clay died at his home Wednesday, July 4, 2007 with his family by his side. He was born June 7, 1925 in Malone and lived in the Syracuse area most of his life. Ernie was retired from the NYS Dept. of Transportation and was a US Army Veteran of WW II.

Survivors: his wife of 54 years, the former Patricia A. Houser; a daughter, Michele (Peter) VanBuren of Baldwinsville; two sons, John (Teri) of Cicero and James (Lynn) of Baldwinsville; grandchildren, Erin & Lindsey Cayea, Michele & Don Bradley, Earle & Melissa Reome; Samantha Reome, Sheena Reome, Jonathan and Tyler Cayea; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Liepke of Syracuse; two brothers, Earl of Mattydale and Edward "Bud" of Syracuse; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside service 10:00am Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Riverview Cemetery, Tappan St., Baldwinsville.
