Ellen Ponzo, 91, formerly of Baldwinsville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 3, 2016, with family by her side.. She was born July 28, 1925 in Fulton, NY the daughter of Emma and Harold Gorton. Ellen graduated from Crouse Irving Medical as a registered nurse. She married Ned Ponzo in July 1956. They raised two children, Mia and Richard. Ellen worked as a RN in upstate NY, from Dryden to Cortland to Syracuse. She enjoyed gardening and landscaped their homes in Cortland, Solvay and Baldwinsville.


Ellen was predeceased by her parents, brothers, Richard Gorton and Barney Gorton and her husband.


She is survived by her sister, Shirley Allie; daughter, Mia Ponzo and son, Richard Ponzo; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am Friday August 12th at St. Mary's Church Baldwinsville. Burial in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
