Elizabeth (Betty) Ellen Tansill Ryan, a faithful and devout Catholic, was called home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2025 at the age of 76.

Born and raised in Bladensburg, Maryland, Elizabeth was a lifelong scholar with a deep passion for the written word and the pursuit of knowledge. A proud graduate of Elizabeth Seton High School, she went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Binghamton University in 1996, graduating with Phi Beta Cappa honors. Elizabeth had an innate curiosity about the natural world and was a gifted teacher. Her gentle spirit, intellectual curiosity, and unwavering faith in GOD touched the lives of all she encountered.

She made her home in Oxford, New York, on a small dairy farm where she raised her family with love, strength, and quiet grace. Above all, Elizabeth cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandson Jimmy, with whom she shared a special bond.

She is survived by her children Elmer Ryan, John Ryan, and Marianne Ryan; her sisters Mary Ann Tansill and Patricia Lee Magruder; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles B. Tansill and Doris C. Tansill; her brothers Charles R. Tansill and Daniel D. Tansill and her grandson James William Ryan.

A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Elizabeth's life will be held at 11:00am on October 3, 2025 at St. Mary's of the Assumption Catholic Church in Baldwinsville, NY, with burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Baldwinsville. For those who are unable to attend the mass, it will be live streamed on the St. Mary's Church website: stmarysbville.org. Flowers can be sent to St Mary's Church.

Elizabeth's legacy of faith, love, and devotion to her family will live on in all who knew and loved her.
