Obituary

Edward J. Scherfling, 84, of Baldwinsville and Big Moose died Thursday. Born in Marshfield, Wis., he graduated from Minoa High School and Oxford Institute. He retired in 1982 as a production manager at Rollway Bearing Co. after 40 years. He was a charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Baldwinsville, where he was a Sunday school teacher and choir member, and Luther Memorial Lutheran Church in North Syracuse. He was a former member and treasurer of Belgium-Cold Springs Fire Department. A son, Kenneth, died in 1964.

Survivors: His wife of 55 years, the former Bernice R. Gauthier; three daughters, Linda Mayers and Karen Anders, both of Baldwinsville, and Tamala Smith of Rome; a son, Robert of Baldwinsville; two sisters, Halda Bader of Mattydale and Freida Dunn of Phoenix; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark's Lutheran Church. Burial, Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
