Obituary

Edith A. Carpenter, 87, passed away Friday, July 2, 2010, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in February 1923 and grew up in Corning, NY. She lived most of her married life in Ithaca, NY. She and her husband spent their retirement in Florida. Edith was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was married for 67 years to Bion Carpenter. She felt that being a mother and homemaker was her job. Edith was a long-time member of Ithaca Baptist Church and taught Sunday school and religious education. She is a current member of Meridian Baptist Church. She was talented in numerous things including quilting, knitting, crocheting, and sewing.

Edith is survived by her husband, Bion Carpenter of Auburn, NY; her daughters, JoAnn "Jody" (Floyd) Duger of Elbridge, NY and Sharon Washburn of Trumansburg, NY and her son, Wayne Carpenter; her grandchildren, Rebecca, Catherine and Pamela Duger, Timothy and Robert Washburn, Jason and Christina Carpenter; and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 9th at 11:00am at Meridian Baptist Church, Meridian, NY. Burial will be private.
