Obituary

Don Falardeau, 85, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and an enduring sense of humor. A devoted husband of 64 years, a loving father, and cherished grandfather, Don was a true gentleman known for his strong faith and commitment to family.

Don followed his calling by becoming a funeral director and became the second-generation owner of Falardeau Funeral Home, helping others during difficult times for over 62 years. His passion for service extended to his active roles in Knights of Columbus and Rotary, earning him the prestigious Paul Harris Award. A pillar of the Baldwinsville community, Don volunteered his time on various boards, demonstrating his commitment to making a positive impact. He also received the Immaculata Award from the Diocese of Syracuse for his contributions to St Mary's Church.

Don had a passion for golf, poker, cribbage, and travel. One of his annual highlights was the cherished trips to Hershey Park with his beloved grandchildren.

Predeceased by his son Joseph Falardeau and sister Yvonne Inman; Don is survived by his wife, Helen, children Yvette (Scott) Babiyan, Jeffrey (Karen) Falardeau, Mary (Michael) Reed, and daughter-in-law, Suzanne. He had six grandchildren, Joseph (Stacey), Evan, Emily (Jeffrey Smith), and Jeffrey Falardeau, Samantha (Joshua) Clark, and Daniel (Samantha Varga) Reed; five great-grandchildren, Logan, Evelyn, Isabella, Charlotte, and Benjamin; sister Joan Chamberlain; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at calling hours on Monday, November 13, from 2-6 pm at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer Street, Baldwinsville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, November 14, at St. Mary's Church, Baldwinsville, followed by burial at Riverview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Syracuse Home or the Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps. Don Falardeau's impact on our lives will be cherished forever, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
