Delbert W. Jones, 85, passed away Monday, September 10 at University Hospital. Delbert graduated from vocational high school and had his own business as a body-man. Delbert had an incredible love and devotion for his family which he also shared with his country. He served in the Korean War from January 14, 1953 through January 13, 1955. Delbert was in the Army reserves and was a member of the American Legion. As a disabled vet, Delbert served passionately as an officer in the DAV for many years at post 30. He was the commander of the DAV and served on the board of directors. He spent many of his days volunteering at the VA hospital helping his fellow veterans. Delbert is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Nettie E. Jones. Delbert is survived by his daughter, Linda L. (John III) Shields; sons, Michael W. Jones and Dell J. (Rose) Jones; sister Patty L. (Nicholas) Dadabo; brother John C. Jones; granddaughter, April Campbell and her children Ava and Emma Campbell. Calling hours are 1-4 PM, Sunday, September 16, at Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St, Baldwinsville. A graveside service will be 11 AM, Monday, September 17 in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Kinne Rd, Dewitt. Donations may be made to the DAV. D.A.V.
