Ziegler-Stebbins
March 26, 1952 – April 17, 2015
On April 17,2015, Deborah Ziegler-Stebbins passed away at home, in the loving arms of her husband, after a long battle against ovarian cancer. She is survived by Bruce Stebbins, daughters Sara Stebbins (Erwin Berrier) and Erin Borchik (Brian), her mother Virginia Ziegler, sisters Leslie Nicoletti (Dino) and Sharon Dydyk (Bobbie), brother Mark Ziegler (Zoe), grandsons Frankie and Alden, her Aunt Joanne Brown, and several cherished nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her father Russell Ziegler.
Debbie was born March 26, 1952 and soon after adopted by her parents. She was always proud and grateful to have been a "chosen" baby. Above all, she loved and treasured her family and friends. Debbie graduated from SUNY-Oswego with a dual major in music and anthropology. Music remained a life-long passion. She retired from Onondaga County Parks after serving in various roles for more than 30 years with the zoo and parks administrative office. She was a volunteer at Beaver Lake serving on the Board of Directors and as the President of the Friends. She enjoyed sports, playing softball for many years and was a dedicated runner and hiker. She loved exploring the Adirondack High Peaks region and National Parks sites with Bruce.
A memorial gathering is planned for May 2nd, 2015, at 4:00 PM at Beaver Lake Nature Center.
