Dawn Marie Custer, a longtime Baldwinsville Resident, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on January 26th, 2026, following an extended battle with Dementia.
Born on May 22, 1949, as the first child to her parents Guy and Wanda Custer of Tully. Dawns passion for cooking and entertaining people lead her to being a Restaurateur. She managed several restaurant's including The Stoop in Armory Suare, as well as Mohegan Manor and Lock 24 in Baldwinsville. She also started and owned two restaurants and a catering business in Baldwinsville; Jester's Restaurant on the Seneca River, The Canal Walk Café, and Window Box Catering.
Dawn was very involved in the community helping and giving to Meals on Wheels, the Chamber, Rotary, and Cystic Fibrosis where she not only donated her time and culinary expertise but started an annual fund-raising event "Savoring the Salt City for Cystic Fibrosis which was held at the NYS Fairgrounds. Dawn was honored as Woman of the Year in 2013 by the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center.
Dawn is survived by her siblings Michael of Cortland, Toni of Cortland, Martin (Katie McDowell) of Skaneateles, Tammy (Steve Wyant) of McGraw. Extended family nephews and nieces, Jeffrey Perkins (Pittsburgh), Corey Custer (Steamboat Springs), Ryan Custer (Springfield), Lindsay Lucas (Boulder), Cassie Berg (London), Tristan Custer (Fairport), and Caden Custer (Skaneateles). She is preceded by her parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring in Baldwinsville.
