In Loving Memory
David Gene Zogg
November 18, 1946 - October 28th, 2026
"To feel his love was to feel the love of the Lord."
David Gene Zogg was born on November 18, 1946, to Margaret and Royce Zogg. He was a man of strong faith, a quick wit, a thoughtful heart, and hands that could build, fix, and create just about anything. Above all, David loved the Lord and his family. He had a special way of making people feel cared for, welcomed, and loved. His faith was not just something he believed in; it was something he shared through the way he lived.
David proudly served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, where he worked on B-52 Bombers. He embarked on the next 28 years of his career as a maintenance mechanic at Phoenix Central School District. It was also during that time where he graduated with honors from Oswego State. On David's days off, he found joy in woodworking and generously shared his talent with his church and family by creating projects that would serve for many years to come.
His love for serving others also led him to spending 20 years as a Scoutmaster for troop 720 where he mentored young men and shared lessons that reached far beyond scouting. As a devoted and active member of the Methodist Church, his faith and dedication were woven into so much of his life.
David married Marcia Zogg (Bushie) on December 15, 1967. Together, they built a family and a lifetime of memories.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia Zogg; his two sons, Douglas (Sunday) Zogg and Matthew Zogg; grandchildren, Paul (Morgan) Zogg, Mark (Ashley) Zogg, Mason Zogg, Tiffany (Corey) Clayberg; great-grandchildren, Sophia Zogg, Lillian Zogg, Peyton Zogg, Remi Zogg, and Carson Clayberg; as well as his sister Barbara Saari; sister in-law Mary Ellen (Ed) Diponzio
and brother in-law Mark (Gen) Bushie; many nieces/nephews; great nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Royce, and his great-granddaughter Madelyn Zogg.
His hands spent a lifetime building and creating, but his greatest work was the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the faith he lived. We take comfort knowing that David is home with the Lord he loved and served so faithfully.
His hands may be at rest, but his love will live on in all of us.
Until we meet again.
Calling hours will be held at 12pm on November 7th 2026 at Faith Journey United Methodist Church, followed by a church service at 1:30pm
