Chester J. Jaskula, 85, of Baldwinsville, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2012, at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, New York, following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Buffalo, New York, on February 22, 1927, Chester was the son of the late John Jaskula, Sr. and Mildred (Haley) Jaskula. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his sisters Dolores (Ernst) Faihst and Frances Jaskula, his brother John (Janet) Jaskula Jr. and his grandson George Obad, USMC.
A former long time resident of the Baldwinsville area, Chester had resided until recently in Phoenix, New York. He was a proud Navy veteran of WWII and a former Town of Hamburg police officer. Chet retired in 1983 as an Assistant Traffic Supervisor, for the Syracuse Division of the New York State Thruway Authority. In the early years of his retirement, Chester was a volunteer driver for the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps. He spent many hours puttering around his workshop. For nearly two decades, Chet and his wife, Henrietta, traveled extensively in their motor home, spending many winters in Ormond Beach, Florida.
Chester is survived by Henrietta, his devoted wife of nearly 62 years; daughters Linda (Dennis) Stimson of Baldwinsville and Elizabeth Obad of Buffalo; son Dennis (Marcia) Jaskula of Phoenix. Grandfather of Jeffrey S. (Debbie) Obad; Edward (Ulonda) Jaskula; Danielle Cunningham; Peter (Kimberly) Jaskula; and Katherine Stimson. Great-grandfather of Nate Cleveland; Paige and Daniel Jaskula; Isabella and Matthew Jaskula; and Jeffrey John Obad. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. Interment at Lakeside Memorial Park in Hamburg, New York, will take place at the convenience of the family.
