Charles A. Johnson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on October 18, 1934 in Syracuse, NY, Charlie lived a life marked by service and community as a professional firefighter with the Syracuse Fire Deparment, a dedicated volunteer firefighter, Navy veteran and ER trauma nurse. In recognition of his unwavering courage, he received the Team Achievement Award for Valor from the Syracuse Fire Department in 1977.

A Lifetime member and Assistant Chief of the Baldwinsville Volunteer Fire Department, Charlie was known for his dedication to fire service as well as public safety having also served as Fire Marshal and Code Enforcement Officer over his career.

Outside of his professional life, he was passionate about golf, challenged himself with episodes of Jeopardy, and embraced the adventure of cruise travel. His love of family and dedication to service will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Charles is survived by his daughter Patricia, sons Paul and Steven, daughter-in-law Kathleen, and his grandchildren, Peter, Ashley, Jessica, and Zachary; long time companion, Carole McKinney, daughter, Carolyn; granddaughter, Hailey; as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Johnson, mother Helen Johnson, father Albert Johnson, brother William Hanlon, grandparents Ann and Floyd Hughes.

Calling hours will held on Tuesday, February 4, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Falardeau Funeral Home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 5, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Cemetery, Baldwinsville.

Donations may be made to Seaside Seabird Sanctuary in honor of Nancy and Charles Johnson, the Baldwinsville Fire Department, or the Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps.
