Carol Calkins (Strouse), age 79, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026 after a long battle with dementia.

Carol was born in Syracuse, NY to George and Frances Strouse. She married Ralph Calkins on September 18, 1965 in Baldwinsville, NY. They resided in Memphis, New York and went on to have two children. Mom and Dad enjoyed a long and loving marriage in which their bond and dedication always was a priority despite their combined stubborn personalities.

She was preceded in death by Ralph Calkins (Husband), George Strouse (Father), Frances Strouse (Mother) and several siblings. Our Mom was a devoted family woman, loyal friend and someone that many turned to for advice and wisdom. She was a dedicated member of Christ Episcopal Church, Jordan, NY and relied on her faith in every situation.

Carol was a graduate of Cato Meridian School. She was employed by the Baldwinsville Tops in the Bakery and Deli and the Plainville Turkey Farm. Mom was known for her baking, especially pies and applesauce bread.

Carol was a sassy woman who always expressed her opinions which made her even more memorable. Throughout her life she enjoyed bird watching, colorful flowers, a good cup of coffee, square dancing and evenings spent with friends. She always loved time spent with family and took so many pictures. We are extremely proud of the life she led, the examples she set and the love she gave.

Carol is survived by her children Nancy Lewis and Todd Calkins (Amy). She was cherished by her granddaughters Nina Lewis, Katelyn Calkins (Ben) and Courtney Calkins. She has a very large family and leaves behind a sister MaryLou Vaughn (John) along with many nieces, nephews and cousins that she adored.

Public Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Falardeau Funeral Home.

Services for Carol Calkins will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Falardeau Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery , Jordan.
