Carl W. Van De Walker Sr., 79, of Syracuse, died Friday, December 20, 2002. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1986 as a carpenter with Dygert Construction Co. in Syracuse. He was a member of the Geneseo War Plane Museum and a life member of Carpenters Local 747 in Syracuse. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, where he was a prisoner of war in a German war camp and received a Purple Heart.
Survivors: His wife of 28 years, the former Patricia Denman; seven daughters, Mary Van Ben Coten and Joy B. Van De Walker, both of Liverpool, Hope A. Kennedy of Chipley, Fla., Melanie L. Clemens of Baldwinsville, Jacqueline A. Boyd of North Syracuse, Christine A. Akana of Fayetteville, N.C., and Joanne M. Wagner of Haw River, N.C.; four sons, Carl W. Jr. of Morenci, Mich., Gerald A. and Joel E., both of North Syracuse, and Marc A. of Cicero; 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
Services: Noon Tuesday, December 24, 2002, at Falardeau Funeral Home. Burial, Riverview Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Calling hours, 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at the funeral home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
