C. James "Jim" Compton, 83, of Indiantown, Florida, formerly of Baldwinsville, passed away January 11, 2006 at home. He was the Sales Director for Bachman Co. and later owned a Bachman distributorship in Syracuse prior to retiring to Florida. He was a communicant of the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Palm City, Florida and was a veteran of World War II, serving as a flight instructor. Throughout his life, he was an avid bowler and golfer. He ran many golf and bowling tournaments, including the annual "Jim Compton Mixed Doubles" at the B'ville Sports Bowl. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille in 1996 and by his daughter, Sandy Schurman in 2003.
Survivors: his wife, Jean of Indiantown; his daughters, Roxanne Parmele and Diane Richman both of Baldwinsville; his son, Douglas Compton of Arkansas; his sisters, Ruth Burinski and Lois Kraus; his brother, Richard Compton; and nine grandchildren.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Grace Episcopal Church, 110 Oswego Street, Baldwinsville.
Contributions in Jim's memory may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.
