Betty J. Coon Sears, 78, of Baldwinsville and Hobe Sound, Fla., died Tuesday at University Hospital. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Baldwinsville most of her life. She was a member of Canton Woods Senior Center, Baldwinsville, and Van Buren Women's Republican Club. Her husband, Mahlon ''Doc,'' died in 1992; her son, Mark, died previously.

Survivors: A daughter, Darlene J. Van Der Water of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Fred Coon of Umatilla, Fla., and Erwin Coon of North Syracuse; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services: 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Falardeau Funeral Home. Burial, Riverview Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, 93 Downer St., Baldwinsville.
