Barbara Anne Howe, age 68, passed away on May 2, 2024.  Barb was the youngest child, born in Baldwinsville, NY, to Charles and Elizabeth Merriam. She married Jim Howe in 1980 and later moved to the Capital Region with her husband where they raised their family; they recently moved back to Syracuse to be near their children and grandchildren.

She was affectionately known as "Gam" and "Ha-Ha" to her grandchildren. Barb was known for her sense of humor, laughter, love of board games, and watching game shows. She particularly enjoyed being on the beach in Florida, or on a boat on Lake George. Barb will be remembered for her loyalty and dedication to family and friends.

She was thoughtful, caring, and always prepared with an appropriate greeting card for any occasion. She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Elizabeth Merriam, brother Robert Merriam, and sister-in-law Cindy Merriam.

Barb is survived by her husband James Howe, her children, Gregory (Lauren) Howe and Jeffrey (Cara) Howe, her grandchildren Avery, Nolan, Sydney and Austin, her brother William (Dianne) Merriam, sisters-in-law Melanie Merriam and Nancy Howe, and many nieces and nephews and their families. There will be no calling hours.

A funeral Mass in Barb's memory will be held on Saturday, May 11, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church, 47 Syracuse St., Baldwinsville.  Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or Francis House of Syracuse in Barb's name.
